Our Story

A pandemic.  A road trip.  An idea.  And now we're here.

DoughJoe was invented, quite literally, on the road.  We were visiting our daughter in Cheney shortly after Covid-19 became a thing, when we happened on a small donut shop in West Spokane.  As we drove home from that visit, we passed the time on I-90 kicking around some questions:  Could we do something like that?  Would that make a good food truck?  What would we call it?  "DoughJoe!" Gayle pronounced.  Half-joking, we continued to brainstorm as the miles passed.  By the time we reached home, it sank in.  Maybe this really would work.

Next thing you know, John's doing what John does... writing business plans and running numbers.  Gayle started working up recipes and food concepts.  We bought a small donut fryer and started making donuts in our garage on weekends, working to get the recipe just right.  Then, we found a bus that would work for us, and everything fell into place.
